About i-Synapse
i-Synapse has 3-pillars of focus, 1) service – helping research groups implement and maximise opportunities in -omics 2) data science – developing new models and extracting meaningful insight, and 3) translation – partnering with clinics, clinicians and industry to bridge the application of genomics technologies to industry and health.
i-Synapse has helped acquire international research collaboration grants >$AUD2million, including a successful grant with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and is currently partnering with clinics to develop new genomics based diagnostics.
About the Founder
Prior to founding i-Synapse PTY LTD, Ashley completed his PhD in a statistical genomics laboratory jointly with Griffith University and Australia’s leading Federal research organisation, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO|Brisbane|Queensland Biosciences Precinct, St. Lucia). He has worked at leading Australian and International Research Organisations: Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (VCCRI, Sydney, Australia), Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI, Sydney, Australia), European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL|Heidelberg|Germany), Australian Institute for Tropical Health and Medicine (AITHM|Cairns|Australia).
He also co-founded the not-for-profit professional association, Australian Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Society (ABACBS) Inc., to promote professional development and recognition of the emerging fields of bioinformatics and computational biology that endeavour to combine genomics technologies with data science. He has been named as a Chief or Associate Investigator on >$AUD10 million tier-1 grants and published >20 peer-reviewed research articles, statistical software and book chapters. He is highly collaborative and his collaborative research has been cited >1500 times [h-index of 13].
